On Thursday 24 November, 6pm AEDT, Edmund Rice Centre hosted an webinar to hear direct from a number of Pacific Islander COP27 delegates who have returned from Egypt. The 2022 United Nations Climate Conference (COP27), held this year in Egypt, ended on 18 November and once again, Pacific Islander nations worked day and night, punching above their weight to achieve climate justice.

Advent has moved away from an individualistic ‘waiting’ for the return of Christ and move us towards what we are called to do to create God’s Reign on earth for all creation. It is about active waiting and active struggle to revolutionise our world. It is a time in which all oppressed people reveal to the church what is needed for such change.

As some you may have already heard, after nearly 27 years in the role, I am resigning as Director of the Edmund Rice Centre. My last day will be January 31.

Next year, from early February to June 30, I will be working part-time on special projects for the Centre before taking a break and then commencing private consultancy work in 2024.

It has been an honour and a privilege to work with Edmund Rice Centre for the past quarter of a century and a bit, but now is the right time for me to step back.
