Along with many other organisations and individuals including the Vatican, the Edmund Rice Centre has just endorsed the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, a Pacific-led initiative complementing the Paris Agreement by accelerating an equitable shift away from fossil fuels to affordable, abundant clean energy for all.
With July 2023 declared the hottest July ever recorded, fires raging in Europe and natural disasters of increasing intensity and frequency across the globe, there is NO MORE TIME TO WASTE.

Feast of the Transfiguration 2023
August 6th is the Feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus. It is also the 78th anniversary of the dropping of the first atomic bomb followed three days later, on August 9th with the bombing of Nagasaki. Nagasaki was strongly Catholic city and the plane that dropped the bomb was blessed by a Catholic Chaplain. These events brought about a catastrophic ‘transfiguration’. The effects of these continue to the present and the threats of nuclear war are continually before us.

Edmund Rice Community Services, the Edmund Rice Centre for Justice and Community Education and DLA Piper are organizing a Free Legal Empowerment Course for refugees, people seeking asylum and migrants. The purpose of the course, conducted in English, is to empower multicultural communities in Victoria by increasing their core legal knowledge and associated skills.
Basic English is required.
