The Edmund Rice Centre for Justice and Community Education is hosting the Justice Through the Arts Schools Event 2020
 
A Day of Creativity, Inspiration, and Learning
 
This is an invitation for teachers, students and people who are interested, to attend the Justice Through the Arts Schools Event 2020.
 
The event showcases how the arts can be a powerful way to raise awareness about issues of social justice, human rights and eco justice and help build the capacity for social change.
 
You will see all the wonderful Performances and Presentations that the participating schools prepared as part of the Justice Through the Arts Schools Project in 2019.
 
There will also be an opportunity for students to develop their own creativity and ideas through interaction.
 
As part of the event, the author Melina Marchetta will speak about the importance of promoting Justice Through the Arts.
 
The 3 Areas of Focus on the day are:
•  Indigenous Issues
•  Refugees and People Seeking Asylum
•  Climate Change- with particular emphasis on how it affects the People of the Pacific
 
Schools presenting on this day have chosen one of the Areas of Focus above and prepared a performance/ presentation incorporating an area(s) of the arts such as music, singing, dance, literature, film etc. featuring the element of HOPE.

The  Aquinas Centre is a small venue which  means:

• Schools that were involved in the Justice Through the Arts Schools Project 2019 (those performing or presenting on the day ) are able to bring up to 20 attendees.

• Schools that are not involved in performing/presenting on the day are able to bring up to 10 attendees.

Venue: Santa Sabina College
 
Address :90 The Boulevarde, Strathfield. Enter by the MAIN COLLEGE GATE and follow the path to THE AQUINAS CENTRE  (parking is available in side streets)
 
Time: 9.00am-2.30pm (Registration is from 8.15am)
 
Cost: The cost is $30.00 per person. (this is for teachers, students, performers, presenters and guests)
 
Morning tea and lunch is provided.
