This week, Patrick Dodson, the Father of Reconciliation in Australia, will be making his first speech in the Australian Senate. At a time when Australians are becoming increasingly cynical about politics and politicians, Patrick is exactly the kind of person we need in Parliament.
The Edmund Rice Centre has worked closely with Patrick to promote the cause of Reconciliation since 1997, including the formation of ANTAR in response to the Howard Government’s plan to extinguish Native Title rights and staging the Sea of Hands across the country.
We are planning to send him a card to congratulate him and wish him the very best.
