The Edmund Rice Centre is proud to present the Settlement Cities Report, a major new report by the Edmund Rice Centre about the settlement experiences of refugees in Australia. The report takes a place-based approach to refugee settlement, focusing on the LGAs where refugees most frequently settle in Australia.

Thirty First Sunday of the Year

The harsh image of God is debunked by the first reading from Wisdom where this God loves all that exists, and ‘holds nothing …..in abhorrence.’ God loves all creation and each person - even the most loathsome. It says, the Sacred is in all things, even in the least among us.  It reinforces the sacramental where the Spirit infuses all that exists. We also have one of the loveliest descriptions of God in the Hebrew Scriptures: "You have mercy on all, because you can do all things."  

Thirtieth Sunday of the Year

‘Faith is always supposed to make it harder, not easier, to ignore the plight of our sisters and brothers. (Robin R. Meyers Saving Jesus from the Church: How to Stop Worshiping Christ and Start Following Jesus, p. 165)’. Again, the scriptures reinforce God’s partiality toward ‘the oppressed...orphan...widow and the lowly.’
