Life is too short to spend too much time alone. In real life Sunday is a chance to enjoy each other's company, a few laughs and an afternoon out with others including some music, conversation and maybe even some dancing. For those musically inclined - perhaps bring your instrument or voice along and join the band for some jazz improvisation.
As part of the IRL Sunday (irlsunday.org.au), join 'Alopi Latukefu and other special guests with Balmain's own Jazz Salon house band The Repeat Offenders. While the gig is a free community event you can make a donation to the fundraising appeal at irlsunday.org.au/donate.
All donations raised go to the good work of Edmund Rice Community Services including the Edmund Rice Centre for Justic and Community Education.
NAIDOC Week 2024 Webinar with Pastor Ray Minniecon
On Friday 12th of July, during Refugee Week 2024, Pastor Ray Minniecon joined the ERC webinar to address the following:
"Post-Referendum, the vision and leadership from our political and religious institutions appears to be completely eradicated for Indigenous peoples' future aspirations. We were hoping for recognition, respect and honour of our unique God-given identity as the original custodians of our lands and territories. We are now feeling dejected and unworthy to live with dignity and honour in our own country and communities. It seem like Our leadership politically, socially, spiritually and mentally has been muted. It will take years to recover. We now have no vision and no leadership. Just dismay, anger and a bleak future. Where to now? What are the new barriers to true reconciliation?"
