Misstatement: "Asylum seekers get more government assistance than pensioners."

Some points:

Refugees and people seeking asylum are not being afforded special benefits. There is no truth to the claim they are entitled to special rates of payment.

It's absolutely true that pensions and support for veterans are inadequate. But it's not right to blame refugees or people seeking asylum. What we should be doing is cracking down on tax concessions to wealthy people and big business, not cutting support for people who need it most.
