The Edmund Rice Business Ethics Initiative, launched in 1991, exists to promote a conversation between business and the community on values and ethics: promoting life humanly in our businesses, our communities, our planet. It aims to create a space where these issues can be discussed and researched in mutually supportive ways. It seems to promote better communication for the sake of better outcomes for us all.

Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) will be bighting soon. (Australian, 11/7 p. 24) The next annual filing of some 1200 non US companies capitalised at more than $US75m with US regulators will have to comply with the reporting requirements of SOX.

Telstra's procurement processes have come in for criticism from the Federal Opposition. Senator Conroy (Labor, VIC) tabled documents leaked from Telstra which gave details of Alcatel's poor performance and overcharging and yet has received a $3.4b fibre networking contract from Telstra.
